Meet Bakery Featured Artists: Today (10) Sergi Stamp, a precocious talent!
“It will have ups and downs but NFTs are here to stay.” Sergi Stamp, a Spanish 3D design expert in an interview with BakerySwap, the first DeFi exchange platform that provides both AMM and NFT Marketplace on Binance Smart Chain, gives his view on the future of NFTs and his experiences on the BakerySwap platform.
As Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) continue to expand globally, every eye is waiting to observe its fate during a bear season. An NFT is a unit of data stored on a blockchain that certifies ownership of a piece of digital content. Unlike cryptocurrencies, these digital contents are not interchangeable and can be used to represent anything such as music, arts, graphics, tweets, memes, etc.
With so much money pumped into digital arts recently and the big names associated with such big spendings on NFTs, it’s not out of place to question the reason behind the digital art boom and their fate when a crypto winter comes.
In this week’s edition of BakerySwap’s interview session, Sergi Stamp talked about his view concerning the fate of NFTs during a bear season, his strategies toward becoming one of the most successful digital artists on BakerySwap, and his experience with the platform.
Sergi Stamp is a Spanish 3D and graphics designer, one of the featured artists on BakerySwap NFT gallery with 6 years of experience in 3D design. He worked for a Google commercial as a full 3D designer at the age of 23.
It’s a pleasure having you with us today. Please give us a precise introduction of yourself.
Hello and thanks for having me here today! My name is Sergi Stamp, I was born in a little city of Catalunya (Spain) called Girona, I did my basic education there and then moved to Barcelona to study Product Design. By the third year, I realized, even though I loved the functionality, the ergonomics, the technical drawing, and all these parts that make a good product good… I was more interested in the final communication of that good product and the visuals that need to be made for that product to communicate the best. At that moment I already had a year or so of testing Cinema 4D and learning as much as I could while in college, so I decided to drop out and figure out a way of introducing myself in the market doing graphics, related to products in 3D if possible. These were the 3 pieces I had. Since then I went from having some projects here and there to having the incredible honor of getting contacted by a creative agency in Barcelona to work for some months doing full 3D work for a Google commercial when I was 23.
Five months later I was in bed with almost no energy and hitting 38 degrees every day for a year. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was 14 and during that year it was hitting harder and longer than ever. When I had some energy I was doing a render and posting it on Instagram and kept doing what I was able to do at that moment. When I gradually started to feel a bit better, I was able to jump on some projects and have some local clients.
And now here we are, 6 years into the 3D scene and talking a bit about this new world of NFTs and the Blockchain!
You appeared on the Bakery Gallery Featured Artists’ list recently. What are the steps you are taking to become one of the most successful artists on the platform?
Thanks for the kind words. I try my best on delivering great 3D work as an artist but not to stop here. You can’t just be a good artist and then not respond, deliver late, be rude, blame others because they don’t understand or value your work. I force myself to consider all these things inside me that will slowly break what I do if I don’t solve them.
How did you come in contact with BakerySwap and what is your experience so far with the platform?
I had the honor to be contacted by Team Black Cat in January 2021 and they allowed me to work on a collaboration drop. That was my first time working on an NFT and the experience was amazing. Then a friend from Madrid that was into crypto and NFTs also told me about BakerySwap and the project behind it. At that moment Bakery Gallery was in the making and we decided to join the 3D Exclusive Event.
A month later or so I did an NFT as well joined the World Environmental Day and found my first collector on BakerySwap. The experience so far has been great. Whenever I had any doubt I contacted the team and they helped me during the process.
What do you think will be the fate of NFTs during the bear season?
I don’t really know, we’re all here learning right now. We’re just starting to shape the form of the future of NFTs and even if you feel it is oversaturated or you share the opinion that there’s a bubble, we have to consider that this is super early for the NFT space.
It will have ups and downs but NFTs are here to stay. As we all get used to having a public digital wallet, tickets for events, music festivals, lots of products will benefit from using blockchain technology to create an NFT of a ticket that publicly proves you are part of an event or that you assist in a concert. Imagine having an NFT ticket for your favorite brand when they just started and you saw them on one of their first shows.
This and the fact that you can enable exclusive content with an NFT.
Can you talk about the next project you are working on?
I like to experiment a lot and I like doing different styles, from scify, all the way to composition sets to minimal architecture… but what I’m working on right now for Bakery is related to a collection, let’s say. I don’t want to set a date till I have everything finished and ready but you can expect a drop soon.
What can you say to your fans?
I’m always pushing myself to level up the quality of the work that I put out there and keep experimenting with new styles, merging 2D and 3D, video and 3D, etc., boosting my desire to create more and more.
